MSF UK Association - How does it work?

Once a year Association members vote to elect the Board. The Board represent the members and are accountable to them.

How does the Association select its representatives?
  • Voting members can put themselves forward for election. (Candidates should officially notify the Association in writing via the Association Coordinator and at least one current Board member must second their candidacy)
  • Candidates then present themselves to the Association members at the General Assembly (GA).
Voting members vote for the candidate(s) of their choice; if not present at the GA they can vote by proxy. Click here for a proxy voting form. A quorum of 10% is required

Board Composition
  • Board members volunteer for a term of three years; if willing and re-elected, they can serve one further three-year term
  • The Board has a maximum of nine and minimum of five members
  • The majority of Board members must be medical
  • The Board can co-opt up to four members for their specific expertise (e.g. to represent another operational centre, or to bring financial expertise)
  • The president of the Board is elected by voting members after nominations by the Board at the general assembly
